BPUR International is delighted to become a stakeholder of the most influential and second-largest parliamentary group in the United Kingdom, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Freedom of Religion or Belief (APPG-FoRB).
This is a giant step in our plans in our efforts to secure the UK government’s adoption of our global campaign to enact an ‘International Treaty to Ban the Political Abuse of Religion’, as a crucial foundation to eliminate the root causes of all religious conflicts and discrimination worldwide.
We are planning to work with the APPG-FoRB to hold a conference in the House of Commons to bring together officials, lawmakers and stakeholders from around the world to explore the roadmap of our global campaign on the international stage.
The APPG-FoRB has 119 members of Parliament and Members of the House of Lords, led by four officers, Jim Shannon MP (chair), Ruth Jones MP, Lord David Alton and Lord Stewart Jackson.
It was established in July 2012 to raise awareness about international freedom of religion or belief as a human right amongst parliamentarians, media, government and the general public in the UK; and to increase effectiveness and awareness of the UK’s contribution to international institutions charged with enforcing this human right.”
