We are delighted to announce the signing of a new partnership between the Nigerian think-tank, the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IRCR) and BPUR International to collaborate and advance our shared objectives of eliminating the root causes of religious conflicts and religious oppression worldwide.
On Wednesday, January 8th, the Director General of the IPCR, Dr Joseph Ochogwu, received BPUR’s Representative, Dr Kehinde Abiola, at the IPCR office in Abuja. They exchanged copies of the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), solidifying their commitment to working together to make the world more fair and more peaceful.
IPCR.gov.ng and BPUR.org are dedicated to eliminating religious oppression and promoting equality and peaceful coexistence among people of diverse religious and cultural backgrounds in Nigeria and across the world.
Both Parties agreed to collaborate towards promoting the global campaign to enact an ‘International Treaty to Ban the Political Abuse of Religion’. They expressed their belief that the proposed treaty would serve as a crucial foundation for security, stability, development, and global peace.
IPCR is a prominent think-tank that has evolved into a hub for peace and governance expertise. It is an agency of the Nigerian government under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with primary responsibilities of driving peace-focused policies, conducting research, providing policy advisory, and directly intervening in conflict prevention, resolution, and management for the Nigerian government and other peacebuilding actors.
BPUR International is a non-governmental organization registered in the United Kingdom to lead a global campaign to enact an ‘International Treaty to Ban the Political Abuse of Religion’. This treaty aims to introduce global rules to eliminate the root causes of religious conflicts and discrimination worldwide.
