The official certificate reads as follows:
International Award for Confronting the Political Abuse of Religion
Presented to
Mr. Naguib Sawiris
In recognition of his distinguished leadership, principled public voice, and sustained philanthropic commitment to advancing religious coexistence, civic equality, and responsible governance.
Through his long standing support for initiatives that confront extremism and reject the political instrumentalization of religion, Mr. Sawiris has consistently championed the principle that faith must never be manipulated as a tool for division, exclusion, or political gain. His advocacy for pluralism, tolerance, and equal dignity among all citizens has contributed significantly to strengthening the foundations of peaceful and inclusive societies.
As a global business leader and philanthropist, he has used his influence and resources to promote dialogue, support civil society, and stand firmly against narratives of religious hatred and sectarian extremism. His actions have demonstrated a clear commitment to safeguarding the integrity of religion from political exploitation and to promoting governance grounded in equality, responsibility, and respect for freedom of belief.
In recognition of these contributions, and in appreciation of his role as the Main Patron of BPUR International and a supporter of the global initiative to advance an International Treaty to Ban the Political Abuse of Religion, BPUR International is honoured to present this award.
His leadership and example embody the principles upon which this international initiative is founded: that religion must remain a source of moral guidance and human dignity, never a mechanism of political manipulation.
