Abdalla Yassin OBE

Dr Abdalla Yassin OBE is a prominent academic and scholar in Islamic jurisprudence, Islamic history, and Islamic theology with a doctorate in Psychology from Liverpool University.

He is the founder of Onyx Link Foundation, a non-profit organisation based in Newport, South Wales, to work with schools and local authorities to challenge hate speech when it goes beyond the lines of free speech.

Dr Abdalla was awarded OBE (The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) by Queen Elisabeth II in 2008 for his work to promote tolerance and social shared values.

He has been the Director of Islamic Support Services Association of Wales, Vice Chair of Muslim Council of Wales and Director of Education & Training for the Islamic Banking and Finance Centre at Cardiff University.

Dr Abdalla is a lecturer and speaker at universities and conferences on tolerance, interfaith, social integration and international ethics and values.
