Kathryn Echele is a recent graduate from King’s College London’s MA War Studies programme, where she wrote her dissertation on the use of civil religion and religious nationalism to justify political and military expansion.
She attended university in the United States, where she is originally from, at Fordham University, where she wrote her thesis on the weaponization of religion for political gain in the former Yugoslavia and Syria.
Kathryn has experience in public affairs as an intern with Islamic Relief USA in Washington D.C. assisting them with Congressional lobbying efforts to achieve more extensive and inclusive social programing in the United States.
As a firm believer in the beauty of diversity and in the ability of religion to create peace, as well as someone who has become very familiar with how religion can be abused to cause conflict, Kathryn is eager to assist BPUR with their campaigning and monitoring efforts.
