Ibrahim Al-Sumaidaie is an influential political analyst, advisor to Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and former advisor to Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, Speaker of Parliament Salim Al-Jabouri, and Minister of Interior Jawad Al-Bolani.
He was a prominent lawyer and journalist before devoting his time to writing and political analysis, from which he entered the Iraqi political scene.
Ibrahim Al-Sumaidaie is a liberal activist, fighting against corruption and sectarian politics in Iraq. He was subject to several lawsuits because of his bold political views and was arrested in 2020 while serving as an advisor to the Prime Minister. He was acquitted due to vast public pressure.
