Baria Ahmar Conti is a journalist, novelist, translator, academic, human rights, and political activist. Founder and director of the BeLife, an NGO committed to empowering communities through technology and education.
She studied philosophy and journalism and holds a PhD in media sciences and religion from Sherbrooke University in Canada. She is a regular TV commentator and lecturer at several universities in Lebanon, France and Canada.
Dr Baria worked for Annahar newspaper, the Lebanese general consulate in Montreal, and CNN Arabic in Dubai, where she had several TV shows. She also worked as a consultant for the USAID project “Strengthening the Judiciary in Lebanon”.
She is one of the leaders of the international campaign to abolish nuclear weapons (A Nuclear-Free Zone in the Middle East: Realistic or Idealistic?) Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (PNND).
Baria is the author of two books, a novel and a collection of poems. She currently lives equally between Lebanon and France.
