Hayder is a political analyst and global activist with extensive experience in Track II diplomacy, intrafaith and interfaith dialogue.
He is a former fellow of the Middle East and North Africa programmes at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, and the European Council on Foreign Relations, where he focused on political and security developments in Iraq and Syria.
Hayder was a member of the Atlantic Council Task Force on the Future of Iraq and served on the Board of Trustees of the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani.
His analyses on contemporary Iraqi and Middle Eastern politics have been published in Foreign Affairs, Al Jazeera, CNN, Al-Monitor, and the Guardian. He also provided expert testimony on power dynamics in the Middle East to the UK Parliament’s Select Committee on International Relations.
Hayder has participated in several high-profile international meetings, including the World Economic Forum in Davos, the China and Globalization Forum in Beijing, the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Conference on Interfaith Dialogue in Marrakesh.
He holds an MA in International Studies and Diplomacy from SOAS, the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, and an MA in Islamic Studies from the Islamic College, London.
